These are tremendous gestures that one can spend so much creativity on. The opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life that changes their opinion of you for the better and also brings them so much joy is thrilling.
Recently I have spent quite some time on gifts I will be giving to family members and each day I feel better about my decisions.
I have gotten gifts that do not speak to me entirely, and regardless of what gifts you decide to give – they will always be a part of you that you share with them forever.
They say something about the relationship you have and often without explanation make an impact.
Luckily we have certain days on which gift-giving is the status-quo, for I have tried to give gifts just because I felt like it and got turned away. In this specific time I have the luxury of making a statement with my gifts because I am not known as a gift giver. I am too poor to give people what my emotions deem them worthy of – so in the past I’ve been the one who’s name is under “and family”.
I’m a newcomer to gift giving – so for me it’s a jubilant activity to think of the perfect gift. Does it express me and them? I want them to remember its from me while they also have their fun with it.
From small gifts to grand gestures they all have the intrinsic good will at heart, but it does matter what the gift contains.
You know when its thoughtless, egotistical or uncaring. And when their the opposite you want to jump with joy.
I like seeing glee in peoples faces, so I’m very excited for next Christmas. Getting gifts is fun too, but I think everyone prefers looking at those reactions when the gifts are opened.
It goes back to feeling like you contribute to another’s’ life. With a gift you have the chance to see it live – most of our work is done in secret and the joy it brings is far away from our eyes.
I am happy if I get some stuff I need and I do not expect anything that will blow my mind, but there’s always a chance.
Some gifts are pre-ordered because we know the occasion is there and we wish to have something specific. These gifts also bring me great joy – I have a signed and framed poster that I glare at every day and I’m still grateful I got it for my birthday from my parents.
It becomes tricky when you give gifts to people you don’t have such a big connection to, so those chocolates go a long way in my book. Necessary things make good gifts and when people know you as someone with a specific hobby it goes a long way to making that hobby even more joyful.
Of course the day that is celebrated needs to be celebrated with respect, which is the primary reason to do so – on top of that we give to one another freely. What would our modern lives be without such an abundance of gifts to choose from!
